June, Los Angeles: A cooling plunge

A mountain tapir at the Los Angeles Zoo dives into the pool to cool off. I took this photo in June of 1971, but I didn't record the day. I scanned it from a faded old slide. I believe L.A. Zoo first started keeping mountain tapirs in 1967 or 68. Photo by Sheryl Todd.
